+ 사도행전 3, 1-10

< 내가 가진 것을 당신에게 주겠습니다. 예수님의 이름으로 말합니다. 일어나 걸으시오. >

해설) 태어날 때부터 앉은뱅이가 된 사람 하나가 성전으로 들어가려던 베드로와 요한에게 구걸합니다. 베드로는 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 앉은뱅이를 치유하여 걸어가게 합니다. 예수님의 이름 안에 예수님의 능력이 있습니다. 예수님의 이름을 통한 치유 능력은 세상의 온갖 물질적 가치를 뛰어넘는 참 신앙을 드러냅니다.

그 무렵 1 베드로와 요한이 오후 세 시 기도 시간에 성전으로 올라가는데, 2 모태에서부터 불구자였던 사람 하나가 들려 왔다. 성전에 들어가는 이들에게 자선을 청할 수 있도록, 사람들이 그를 날마다 ‘아름다운 문’이라고 하는 성전 문 곁에 들어다 놓았던 것이다. 3 그가 성전에 들어가려는 베드로와 요한을 보고 자선을 청하였다. 4 베드로는 요한과 함께 그를 유심히 바라보고 나서, “우리를 보시오.” 하고 말하였다. 5 그가 무엇인가를 얻으리라고 기대하며 그들을 쳐다보는데, 6 베드로가 말하였다. “나는 은도 금도 없습니다. 그러나 내가 가진 것을 당신에게 주겠습니다. 나자렛 사람 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 말합니다. 일어나 걸으시오.” 7 그러면서 그의 오른손을 잡아 일으켰다. 그러자 그가 즉시 발과 발목이 튼튼해져서 8 벌떡 일어나 걸었다. 그리고 그들과 함께 성전으로 들어가면서, 걷기도 하고 껑충껑충 뛰기도 하고 하느님을 찬미하기도 하였다. 9 온 백성은 그가 걷기도 하고 하느님을 찬미하기도 하는 것을 보고, 10 또 그가 성전의 ‘아름다운 문’곁에 앉아 자선을 청하던 사람이라는 것을 알고, 그에게 일어난 일로 경탄하고 경악하였다.

+ First Reading, Acts 3:1-10

1 Peter and John were going up to the temple area for the three o'clock hour of prayer. 2 And a man crippled from birth was carried and placed at the gate of the temple called "the Beautiful Gate" every day to beg for alms from the people who entered the temple. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms. 4 But Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, "Look at us." 5 He paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them. 6 Peter said, "I have neither silver nor gold, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk." 7 Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong. 8 He leaped up, stood, and walked around, and went into the temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God. 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the one who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with amazement and astonishment at what had happened to him.

묵상) 사도들은 앉은뱅이에게 돈을 주는 대신에 나자렛 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 치유의 은혜를 베풉니다. 부활하여 현존하시는 예수 그리스도의 능력으로 앉은뱅이를 낫게 한 것입니다. 예수 그리스도의 이름은 곧 예수 그리스도의 능력입니다. 부활하신 예수님께 대한 믿음이야말로 초대 그리스도 공동체가 가진 절대적 가치입니다.

< 빵을 떼실 때에 예수님을 알아보았다. >

해설) 마리아 막달레나가 부활하신 예수님을 잘 알아보지 못한 것처럼, 엠마오의 제자들도 동행하신 예수님을 알아보지 못합니다. 부활하신 예수님께서 마리아 막달레나를 부르실 때 그녀의 눈이 열린 것처럼, 예수님께서 빵을 떼어 주실 때 제자들의 눈이 열립니다. 부활하신 예수님께서는 성찬의 전례 안에 현존하여 계십니다.

주간 첫날 바로 그날 예수님의 13 제자들 가운데 두 사람이 예루살렘에서 예순 스타디온 떨어진 엠마오라는 마을로 가고 있었다. 14 그들은 그동안 일어난 모든 일에 관하여 서로 이야기하였다. 15 그렇게 이야기하고 토론하는데, 바로 예수님께서 가까이 가시어 그들과 함께 걸으셨다. 16 그들은 눈이 가리어 그분을 알아보지 못하였다. 17 예수님께서 그들에게 “걸어가면서 무슨 말을 서로 주고받느냐?” 하고 물으시자, 그들은 침통한 표정을 한 채 멈추어 섰다. 18 그들 가운데 한 사람, 클레오파스라는 이가 예수님께, “예루살렘에 머물렀으면서 이 며칠 동안 그곳에서 일어난 일을 혼자만 모른다는 말입니까?” 하고 말하였다. 19 예수님께서 “무슨 일이냐?” 하시자 그들이 그분께 말하였다. “나자렛 사람 예수님에 관한 일입니다. 그분은 하느님과 온 백성 앞에서, 행동과 말씀에 힘이 있는 예언자셨습니다. 20 그런데 우리의 수석 사제들과 지도자들이 그분을 넘겨, 사형 선고를 받아 십자가에 못 박히시게 하였습니다. 21 우리는 그분이야말로 이스라엘을 해방하실 분이라고 기대하였습니다. 그 일이 일어난 지도 벌써 사흘째가 됩니다. 22 그런데 우리 가운데 몇몇 여자가 우리를 깜짝 놀라게 하였습니다. 그들이 새벽에 무덤으로 갔다가, 23 그분의 시신을 찾지 못하고 돌아와서 하는 말이, 천사들의 발현까지 보았는데 그분께서 살아 계시다고 천사들이 일러 주더랍니다. 24 그래서 우리 동료 몇 사람이 무덤에 가서 보니 그 여자들이 말한 그대로였고, 그분은 보지 못하였습니다.” 25 그때에 예수님께서 그들에게 이르셨다. “ 아, 어리석은 자들아! 예언자들이 말한 모든 것을 믿는 데에 마음이 어찌 이리 굼뜨냐? 26 그리스도는 그러한 고난을 겪고서 자기의 영광 속에 들어가야 하는 것이 아니냐?” 27 그리고 이어서 모세와 모든 예언자로부터 시작하여 성경 전체에 걸쳐 당신에 관한 기록들을 그들에게 설명해 주셨다. 28 그들이 찾아가던 마을에 가까이 이르렀을 때, 예수님께서는 더 멀리 가려고 하시는 듯하였다. 29 그러자 그들은 “저희와 함께 묵으십시오. 저녁때가 되어 가고 날도 이미 저물었습니다.” 하며 그분을 붙들었다. 그래서 예수님께서는 그들과 함께 묵으시려고 그 집에 들어가셨다. 30 그들과 함께 식탁에 앉으셨을 때, 예수님께서는 빵을 들고 찬미를 드리신 다음 그것을 떼어 그들에게 나누어 주셨다. 31 그러자 그들의 눈이 열려 예수님을 알아보았다. 그러나 그분께서는 그들에게서 사라지셨다. 32 그들은 서로 말하였다. “길에서 우리에게 말씀하실 때나 성경을 풀이해 주실 때 속에서 우리 마음이 타오르지 않았던가!” 33 그들이 곧바로 일어나 예루살렘으로 돌아가 보니 열한 제자와 동료들이 모여, 34 “정녕 주님께서 되살아나시어 시몬에게 나타나셨다.” 하고 말하고 있었다. 35 그들도 길에서 겪은 일과 빵을 떼실 때에 그분을 알아보게 된 일을 이야기해 주었다.

13 That very day, the first day of the week, two of Jesus' disciples were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, 14 and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. 15 And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, 16 but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. 17 He asked them, "What are you discussing as you walk along?" They stopped, looking downcast. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply, "Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things that have taken place there in these days?" 19 And he replied to them, "What sort of things?" They said to him, "The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, 20 how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over to a sentence of death and crucified him. 21 But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel; and besides all this, it is now the third day since this took place. 22 Some women from our group, however, have astounded us: they were at the tomb early in the morning 23 and did not find his Body; they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive. 24 Then some of those with us went to the tomb and found things just as the women had described, but him they did not see." 25 And he said to them, "Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! 26 Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?" 27 Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the Scriptures. 28 As they approached the village to which they were going,he gave the impression that he was going on farther. 29 But they urged him, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over." So he went in to stay with them. 30 And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. 31 With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. 32 Then they said to each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?" 33 So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem where they found gathered together the Eleven and those with them 34 who were saying, "The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!" 35 Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

묵상) 부활하신 예수 그리스도께서는 언제나 그리스도인과 함께 계십니다. 그러나 일상생활 한가운데에서 부활하신 주님의 현존을 알아차리기란 쉽지 않습니다. 성경 안에서 주님의 말씀을 대할 때 부활하신 주님의 현존을 감지할 수 있고, 성찬의 전례 안에서 성체를 받아 모실 때는 그분의 현존을 더 깊이 인식할 수 있습니다.

엠마오로 가는 두 제자가 부활하신 예수님과 동행합니다. 그러나 눈이 가려져 그들은 예수님을 알아보지 못합니다. 예수님께서 성경 말씀을 풀이해 주시고 빵을 떼어 주실 때 비로소 그들의 눈이 열려 예수님을 알아보게 됩니다. 우리도 성경 말씀과 성찬의 전례 안에서 부활하신 예수님을 만날 수 있을 것입니다.

'엠마오의 기도'

엠마오로 가는 두 제자에게 나타나시다.

+ 루카 24, 13-35

1. 스승을 잃은 두 제자는 슬픔과 혼돈 속에 원래 자신들이 살았던 삶을 찾아 길을 떠납니다. 그들이 길을 따라 걷고 있을 때 예수님은 낯선 이의 모습으로 그들에게 다가오십니다. 하지만 그들은 예수님이 누구인지도 모르다가 예수님께서 빵을 나누어주시는 순간 비로소 예수님의 현존을 깨닫게 됩니다. 제자들은 왜 예수님을 알아보지 못하였습니까? 그들은 어떤 이야기를 나눕니까?

2. 나 역시 이 두 제자들처럼 삶의 고통과 혼돈 속에 절망하며 믿음을 버리고 일상의 삶으로 떠나고 있지는 않습니까? 불투명한 내일과 삶의 여정 속에서 방황하고 있을 때 주님은 어떤 모습으로 내게 다가오십니까? 그리고 그분은 어떤 위로를 주십니까? 나의 모습 속에서 약한 믿음과 어두운 눈 때문에 내가 놓치고 있었던 것은 없었는지 살펴보십시오. 나는 일상의 삶 속에서 언제 주님의 부활을 체험하며 그분의 현존을 깨닫습니까?

First Reading : Acts 3:1-10 Holy Gospel : Luke 24:13-35

On road to Emmaus

St Peter and his fellow disciples have been strengthened by the Resurrection of Christ and are now going about preaching his message and curing the people in his name. Today we see them run into conflict with the Jewish authorities for doing the very things that the authorities had crucified Jesus for. The disciples are aware of this and yet they continue unafraid.

The gospel text is the familiar story of Christ’s appearance to two of his followers on the road to Emmaus. They only recognise him at the breaking of bread because they had not believed all that he had told them while he was still alive. The breaking of the bread is also a reminder to them of the importance Christ placed on his institution of the Eucharist and of the necessity of doing this in his memory. When they did realise that it was the Lord, their hearts burned with joy. When did our hearts last burn with joy in the presence of Christ in the Blessed Eucharist? We are called on to have faith like Peter and the disciples and to openly proclaim our faith in Christ.

Prayer : "Lord Jesus Christ, open the eyes of my heart to recognize your presence with me and to understand the truth of your saving word. Nourish me with your life-giving word and with the bread of life." - Amen

성 베네딕투스 멘니(Benedictus Menni, 또는 베네딕토 멘니)는 1841년 3월 11일 이탈리아 밀라노(Milano)에서 루이지 멘리(Luigi Menni)와 루이사 피지니(Luisa Figini)의 15명의 자녀 중 5번째로 태어났다. 천주의 성 요한 수도회에 입회한 그는 로디(Lodi)의 신학교에서 철학과 신학을 공부한 후 로마(Roma)의 그레고리안 대학에서 수학하였다. 성 베네딕투스는 1866년 사제로 서품되었다. 그리고 이듬해에 그는 수도회 총장으로부터 에스파냐의 수도회를 개혁하고 부흥시키라는 사명을 받았고, 교황 비오 9세(Pius IX)를 알현한 자리에서 교황의 축복과 격려도 받았다. 생명의 위협과 강제 추방 속에서도 자신의 임무를 성실히 수행한 그는 에스파냐 뿐만 아니라 멕시코와 포르투갈에 있는 수도회까지도 개혁하였다.

그는 1881년 5월 31일 두 명의 수녀와 함께 마드리드(Madrid)의 시엠포수엘로스(Ciempozuelos)에 예수 성심 의료 수녀회(Congregation of Hospitaller Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus)를 설립하였다. 그리고 노인들과 버려진 아이들 그리고 소아마비의 희생자들과 정신적으로 질병을 앓는 이들을 돕기 위해 '착한 사마리아 사람'을 만들었다. 일생 동안 수도원 개혁에 헌신하던 성 베네딕투스 멘리는 1914년 프랑스 북부 디낭(Dinan)에서 선종했고, 그의 유해는 에스파냐 시엠포수엘로스에 있는 수녀원 본원에 안치되었다. 그는 1985년 6월 23일 교황 성 요한 바오로 2세(Joannes Paulus II)에 의해 복자품에 올랐고, 1999년 11월 21일 바티칸의 성 베드로 대성당에서 같은 교황에 의해 시성되었다.
