01월27일(녹) 연중 제3주일

The Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

이 말씀이 너희가 듣는 가운데에서 이루어졌다.

오늘은 연중 제3주일입니다. 오늘 성경 말씀의 주제는 자유와 해방입니다. 주님께서 출애굽을 통하여 이스라엘 백성에게 가르치신 것은 참된 해방과 자유와 생명입니다. 예수님께서 회당에서 가르치신 말씀의 핵심도 자유와 해방입니다. 주님은 모든 인간이 참된 자유와 해방과 영원한 생명을 누리기를 원하십니다.

제1독서는 느헤미야서의 말씀입니다. 선비요 사제인 에즈라는 바빌론 유배에서 귀향한 이스라엘 백성들에게 주님의 법전을 들려줍니다. 에즈라는 이스라엘 백성이 알아듣고 깨칠 수 있도록 주님의 법전을 읽으며 풀이해 줍니다. 온 백성은 주님 법전에 기록되어 있는 말씀 한마디 한마디를 들으면서 웁니다. 에즈라가 법전을 읽고 풀이해 줌으로써 백성들은 주님의 말씀을 더 잘 깨닫게 됩니다. 주님의 말씀은 생명의 말씀입니다. 누구든지 주님의 말씀을 듣고 마음에 새기면 참된 자유와 영원한 생명의 삶을 살게 됩니다. 주님의 법은 생기를 주고 마음을 즐겁게 해 줍니다. 주님의 말씀은 올바른 가치관을 주기 때문에 주님 안에서 바르게 살게 합니다.

제2독서는 코린토 1서의 말씀입니다. 우리의 몸은 하나이지만 많은 지체를 가지고 있습니다. 몸에 딸린 지체는 많지만 그 모두는 한 몸을 이루고 있습니다. 하느님께서는 당신 뜻대로 각각 다른 기능을 가진 여러 지체를 우리 몸에 두십니다. 한 지체가 고통을 당하면 다른 모든 지체들도 함께 고통을 당합니다. 역시 한 지체가 영광스럽게 되면 다른 모든 지체들도 영광스럽게 됩니다. 그리스도의 몸도 그러합니다. 우리 모두는 다 함께 예수 그리스도의 몸을 이루고 있으며, 우리 한 사람 한 사람은 다 그리스도의 지체입니다. 우리가 고통을 당하면 그리스도께서도 고통을 받으실 것입니다. 우리가 영광스럽게 되면 예수님께서도 영광스럽게 되실 것입니다.

복음은 루카 복음입니다. 예수님께서는 가난한 이들에게 기쁜 소식을 전하고 묶인 이들에게 참된 해방을 알리기 위해 오십니다. 예수님께서는 눈먼 이들은 바로 보게 하시고 억눌린 이들에게는 자유를 주시기 위해 오십니다. 예수님은 가난하고 소외된 이들에게 주님의 은혜로운 해를 선포하러 오십니다. 우리를 바르게 볼 수 있게 하실 수 있는 분은 예수님뿐입니다. 우리가 올바로 들을 수 있고, 바른 것을 말할 수 있게 하시는 분은 오직 예수님뿐입니다. 예수님 안에서만이 바로 볼 수 있고 바르게 듣고 말할 수 있습니다. 예수님께서는 가난하고 소외된 사람들에게 기쁜 소식을 가지고 오십니다. 진정 예수님 안에 참 기쁨이 있고, 예수님 안에 참 자유와 해방이 있습니다.

해설) 바빌론에서 귀향한 백성들이 사제 에즈라를 통하여 주님의 법전을 듣게 됩니다. 억압자들에게 짓눌렸던 백성들은 이제 마음의 여유를 갖고 주님의 말씀을 귀담아 듣습니다. 에즈라가 법전을 읽고 풀이해 줌으로써 은혜 받은 백성들은 이제 주님의 말씀을 깨닫게 됩니다. 백성들은 주님 말씀 안에서 새로운 가치관을 갖게 됩니다.

그 무렵 2 에즈라 사제는 남자와 여자, 그리고 말귀를 알아들을 수 있는 모든 이로 이루어진 회중 앞에 율법서를 가져왔다. 때는 일곱째 달 초하룻날이었다. 3 그는 ‘물 문’ 앞 광장에서, 해 뜰 때부터 한낮이 되기까지 남자와 여자와 알아들을 수 있는 이들에게 그것을 읽어 주었다. 백성은 모두 율법서의 말씀에 귀를 기울였다. 4 율법 학자 에즈라는 이 일에 쓰려고 만든 나무 단 위에 섰다. 5 에즈라는 온 백성보다 높은 곳에 자리를 잡았으므로, 그들이 모두 보는 앞에서 책을 폈다. 그가 책을 펴자 온 백성이 일어섰다. 6 에즈라가 위대하신 주 하느님을 찬양하자, 온 백성은 손을 쳐들고 “아멘, 아멘!” 하고 응답하였다. 그런 다음에 무릎을 꿇고 땅에 엎드려 주님께 경배하였다. 레위인들은 8 그 책, 곧 하느님의 율법을 번역하고 설명하면서 읽어 주었다. 그래서 백성은 읽어 준 것을 알아들을 수 있었다. 9 느헤미야 총독과 율법 학자며 사제인 에즈라와 백성을 가르치던 레위인들이 온 백성에게 타일렀다. “오늘은 주 여러분의 하느님께 거룩한 날이니, 슬퍼하지도 울지도 마십시오.” 율법의 말씀을 들으면서 온 백성이 울었기 때문이다. 10 에즈라가 다시 그들에게 말하였다.“가서 맛있는 음식을 먹고 단 술을 마시십시오. 오늘은 우리 주님께 거룩한 날이니, 미처 마련하지 못한 이에게는 그의 몫을 보내 주십시오. 주님께서 베푸시는 기쁨이 바로 여러분의 힘이니, 서러워하지들 마십시오.”

2 Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, which consisted of men, women,and those children old enough to understand. 3 Standing at one end of the open place that was before the Water Gate, he read out of the book from daybreak till midday, in the presence of the men, the women, and those children old enough to understand; and all the people listened attentively to the book of the law. 4 Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that had been made for the occasion. 5 He opened the scroll so that all the people might see it — for he was standing higher up than any of the people —; and, as he opened it, all the people rose. 6 Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God, and all the people, their hands raised high, answered, "Amen, amen!" Then they bowed down and prostrated themselves before the LORD, their faces to the ground. 8 Ezra read plainly from the book of the law of God, interpreting it so that all could understand what was read. 9 Then Nehemiah, that is, His Excellency, and Ezra the priest-scribe and the Levites who were instructing the people said to all the people: "Today is holy to the LORD your God. Do not be sad, and do not weep"— for all the people were weeping as they heard the words of the law. 10 He said further: "Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks, and allot portions to those who had nothing prepared; for today is holy to our LORD. Do not be saddened this day, for rejoicing in the LORD must be your strength!"

해설) 한 지체가 고통을 당하면 다른 지체들도 함께 고통을 당하고, 역시 한 지체가 영광스럽게 되면 다른 지체들도 영광스럽게 됩니다. 우리 모두는 다 함께 예수 그리스도의 몸을 이루고 있으니, 우리 한 사람 한 사람은 모두 그리스도의 지체들입니다. 우리는 예수 그리스도 안에서 한 몸을 이루고 있으며, 우리는 하느님의 자녀입니다.

Brothers and sisters: 12 As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit. 14 Now the body is not a single part, but many. 15 If a foot should say, "Because I am not a hand I do not belong to the body, " it does not for this reason belong any less to the body. 16 Or if an ear should say, "Because I am not an eye I do not belong to the body, " it does not for this reason belong any less to the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? 1 Since many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the events that have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as those who were eyewitnesses from the beginning and ministers of the word have handed them down to us, 3 I too have decided, after investigating everything accurately anew, to write it down in an orderly sequence for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may realize the certainty of the teachings you have received. 4:14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region. 15 He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all. 16 He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read 17 and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written: 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, 19 and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord. 20 Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him. 21 He said to them, "Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."

성경에 하느님의 말씀과 예수님의 행적이 기록되어 있습니다. 하느님의 말씀을 지키며 예수 그리스도를 따르는 사람은 자유와 해방과 생명의 기쁨을 얻을 것입니다. 성경을 읽는 사람은 주님께서 주시는 은총과 축복을 알아차릴 것입니다. 성경을 통해 하느님과 예수님을 아는 만큼 우리도 자녀로서의 맞갖은 삶을 살 것입니다.

갈릴래아 전도를 시작하시다.

1. 눈을 감고서 나자렛 회당 안에서 성서의 말씀을 읽고 또 그것에 대하여 말씀하시는 예수님의 모습을 상싱해 보십시오. 성령에 가득차서 말씀하고 계시는 예수님의 음성 그리고 두 눈빛을 보십시오. 왜 성서의 말씀을 읽은 예수님께 모든 사람들의 눈이 쏠렸습니까? 나는 거기서 무엇을 보았으며 무엇을 들었습니까?

2. 세상의 어둠을 밝히시는 빛으로 오신 예수님은 나의 마음을 어떻게 비추고 계십니까? 하느님 자비의 구원의 빛으로 모든 사람들이 영원한 생명을 얻을 수 있다는 예수님의 새 희망의 메시지는 내게 어떤 느낌으로 다가옵니까? 두려움입니까? 아니면 위안입니까?

Jesus in Galilee

Our first reading today comes from the Old Testament book of Nehemiah and recounts one the restoration stories. In the passage, the people have returned to Jerusalem and are in the process of rebuilding the city and the Temple and are now listening to the Law of God being read by Ezra the priest, who also gives an interpretation of the Law. The people listen attentively and are aware that the difficult times now drawing to a close were the result of their disobedience to the Law of God. If now they remain faithful to the Law then the restoration will continue and the nation will prosper.

In the second reading we continue St Paul’s theme from last week in which he said that different gifts are given to different people by the one Holy Spirit. Today he extends that and says that the community of the baptised all belong to one body with Christ as its head. Just as the human body is made up of diverse parts all working together as one whole, so too the Body of Christ is made up of a variety of different people, though all should work together on the journey towards heaven. While we are all called to live a life of holiness, the contribution of each person is different and yet there is a profound unity in the diversity of so many members of the body. No matter who we are, we each have a contribution to make to the Body of Christ and the building up of the Kingdom. If the Church – the community of the faithful – is to grow and be the true presence of Jesus Christ on earth, then all of us must do our share for that body.

In the gospel we read from the opening chapters to St Luke’s gospel in which he sets out why it is that he is joining others in writing a gospel. Luke’s account of the life of Jesus Christ is for someone who has already heard about Jesus and Luke is now giving him the key parts of Jesus’ life so that the reader might come to true and final belief. In our passage, Jesus is seen in the synagogue in Nazareth, the town where he grew up and where the people knew him. Being in the synagogue is important because it shows that Jesus was a faithful Jew and was continuing the traditions handed down through the ages. It is also obvious that he is a teacher and so he reads from the scroll and then gives an explanation of the text, and Luke makes it clear that Jesus is the fulfilment of the texts he had read from the prophet Isaiah. The fulfilment of the text didn’t just take place on that one day in Nazareth but continues throughout our time wherever faith in God is to be found and the mission of preaching the gospel is continued. We do this by living according to the Law of God, living as faithful members of Christ’s mystical body here on earth.

"Lord Jesus, you are the fulfillment of all our hopes and dreams. Through the gift of your Holy Spirit you bring us grace, truth, life, and freedom. Fill me with the joy of the gospel and and inflame my heart with love and zeal for you and your will". Amen.

성 헨리쿠스 데 오소 이 세르세요(Henricus de Osso y Cercello, 또는 헨리코 데 오소 이 세르세요)는 1840년 10월 16일 스페인 타라고나(Tarragona)의 작은 마을인 비네브레(Vinebre)에서 태어났다. 아버지 하이메 데 오소 이 세르세요(Jaime de Osso y Cercello)와 어머니 미카엘라 데 오소 이 세르세요(Micaela de Osso y Cercello) 사이의 세 자녀 중 막내로 태어난 그는 어려서부터 사제성소를 느끼고 있었다. 그의 어머니는 아들의 사제성소를 적극 후원했지만 아버지는 반대했다. 그래서 그의 아버지는 성 헨리쿠스가 12살이 되었을 때 직물 관련 일을 배우도록 그를 퀸토 데 에브로(Quinto de Ebro)에 있는 숙부에게 보냈다. 그러나 그는 집을 떠난 지 얼마 되지 않아 중병을 앓아 집으로 돌아왔다. 다시금 아버지에 의해 레우스(Reus)로 보내졌지만 역시 중병에 걸려 집으로 돌아오고 말았다.

1854년 성 헨리쿠스의 어머니가 당시 유행하던 콜레라에 걸려 사망하자 그는 다시 레우스로 보내졌다. 하지만 그는 레우스로 가지 않고 몬세라트(Montserrat)의 수도원으로 피신하였다. 그러자 그의 형 하이메(Jaime)가 와서 그를 다시 집으로 데려갔는데, 그제야 비로소 그의 아버지도 성 헨리코가 사제직을 갈망하고 있음을 깨달았다. 아버지의 허락을 받은 그는 토르토사(Tortosa)와 바르셀로나(Barcelona)에서 수학한 후 1867년 9월 21일 신학교 동기인 복자 엠마누엘 도밍고 이 솔(Emmanuel Domingo y Sol)과 함께 사제품을 받고 몬세라트 수도원에서 첫 미사를 봉헌하였다.

토르토사 신학교에서 수학을 가르치며 사도직을 수행하던 그는 아빌라(Avila)의 성녀 테레사(Teresia, 10월 15일)에게 매료되어 그녀의 개혁적 열정을 자신의 설교와 사도직의 기초로 생각했다. 그리고 이러한 사도직을 구체화하기 위해 1876년 테레사 성녀의 정신을 따르는 ‘성녀 테레사 선교회’(the Teresian Missionaries)를 설립하였다. 이 수도회는 1877년 교황의 승인을 받았고, 오늘날 유럽과 아프리카, 멕시코 등지에서 활발한 선교 활동을 펼치고 있다.

그는 19세기 후반 언론매체가 갖는 시대적 중요성을 깨닫고 주간지 “인간”(The Man)과 “민중들의 친구”(The Friend of People)를 창간하여 그곳에 많은 글을 기고하였다. 그리고 카르멜회의 정신과 전통을 소개하는 잡지(The Teresian Review)도 창간하였다. 그는 특별히 여성들의 사도직에 관심을 갖고 영성 생활을 실현하는데 있어서 여성 독자들에게 적합한 도서들을 출판하였다. 그는 남성들을 위해서도 ‘요세피나 형제회’를 설립하려 했으나 생전에 뜻을 이루지 못하고, 후에 그의 동료인 복자 엠마누엘 도밍고 이 솔에 의해 이루어졌다.

성 헨리쿠스는 복자 엠마누엘 도밍고 이 솔을 만나러 벨렌시아(Balencia)에 갔다가 그곳에서 뇌일혈을 일으켜 길레트(Gilet)에서 치료를 받다가 1896년 1월 27일 선종하였다. 그의 유해는 일단 길레트에 모셔졌다가 1908년 7월 토르토사의 성녀 테레사 선교회 경당으로 옮겨 모셨다. 그는 1979년 10월 14일 교황 성 요한 바오로 2세(Joannes Paulus II)에 의해 복자품에 올랐고, 1993년 6월 16일 에스파냐의 마드리드(Madrid)에서 같은 교황으로부터 시성되었다.
